Im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert wurden Spolien aus Verde antico für die Gestaltung repräsentative Büsten eingesetzt wie hier am Sockel einer Anfang des 18. Jahrhunderts in Florenz von Francesco Ginghi (1689–1762) gefertigten Venusbüste aus Amethyst, einer getreuen Kopie der Venus Medici in der Tribuna der Uffizien (Grünes Gewölbe, Dresden, Inv.-Nr.
